Roger Pines recently completed his 26-year tenure at Lyric Opera of Chicago, where he was dramaturg, program editor, and co-host and co-producer for the live broadcasts. His current freelance activities include articles for San Francisco Opera, The Dallas Opera, Opera News, as well as a series of online programs on iconic voices of the past, for which Roger is collaborating with the celebrated American baritone Thomas Hampson. Roger has written articles for every major North American opera company and liner notes for CDs by many world-renowned artists. A panelist annually on the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts "Opera Quiz" since 2006, Roger in recent seasons has presented lectures at San Francisco Opera, Philadelphia's Curtis Institute of Music, and the opera department at the University of Texas at Austin. Roger currently teaches the opera repertoire course at Northwestern's Bienen School of Music.
