holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Witwatersrand University in South Africa, and qualifications in speech and drama teaching from the University of South Africa and Trinity College London. In Johannesburg she ran a large private studio and taught in both the drama and communication departments of the university. She has acted, directed and judged drama festivals and speech examinations. She holds the position of Life Vice President of the South African Guild of Speech and Drama Teachers, and was on the executive board of the Shakespeare Society of Southern Africa. She was a faculty member of the Theatre School at Columbia College. Currently she is a private tutor in voice, acting and effective speaking skills and is involved in presentations of stories on stage.
